Q + A

Why did we choose vail?

Early in our relationship, we took a summer vacation in Vail, and we’ve returned every summer since. We were captivated by the fresh air, hiking, and charm of the mountain town. Over the years, we’ve whitewater rafted, hiked so many trails, luged down the mountain, and even tried goat yoga (!). We adore Vail and are so excited to share its natural beauty with all our favorite people.

TELL ME ABOUT VAIL!

Vail is a charming mountain valley town built around Vail Ski Resort. It’s made up of two ‘villages’–Lionshead Village toward the west and Vail Village toward the east. Their centers are 1.5 miles apart and connected by busses that run every few minutes between 6:30am - 1:30am. There’s no need for a car within Vail unless you’re taking an excursion out of town. Everyone walks and takes the bus.

Are kids welcome?

As much as we love your little ones, we will only be including children who are in the ceremony at the reception. Please reach out if you have questions!

What will the weather be like?

July in Vail generally brings warm, sunny days and cool evenings, with temperatures typically ranging from the high 70s°F during the day to the mid 40s°F at night. It’s a lovely time to be outdoors, but because Vail is at a higher altitude there are a few important things to keep in mind: Sunscreen is a must! The sun is stronger at higher elevations, so even on cooler days, you can easily burn. Be sure to apply sunscreen frequently (especially before the ceremony.) Altitude considerations: While Vail’s altitude makes it breathtakingly beautiful, it can also cause some guests to experience altitude sickness, especially within the first 48 hours after arrival. Be sure to stay hydrated and take things slow when you first arrive.

What is the elevation?

Holy Cross Event Deck, where we will have our ceremony, is 11,564 ft above sea level. The elevation of Vail, CO, is 8,150 ft. above sea level.

What should I wear?

No black dresses, please. We are looking for colorful cocktail! Men may wear black, but please find a colorful shirt or tie. For women, we recommend wearing chunkier heels that are comfortable walking on uneven ground. Our wedding ceremony will be outdoors, and the reception will be indoors.

Is this event ADA accessible?

Vail and our wedding venue are accessible to people of all mobility levels. There will be a golf cart for those who may need assistance. See details here for more information: https://discovervail.com/blog/vail-accessibility-information/
